Temporal muscle myofascial syndrome ABONNE LIBRE

Headache related to contracture of an area of the temporalis muscle (orange area) is common.

It is generally located at the level of the temple, above the orbit, and sometimes manifests itself by dental pain (upper teeth) (red zone). The pain felt depends on the muscle area responsible (green area).
The more the contracture is in front, the more the attack is anterior. See according to the attached diagrams.

These contractures can appear during prolonged immobilization of the jaw, in the event of dental occlusion disorders,
in case of bruxism or in case of direct trauma to the muscle.

Sometimes develop secondary to trapezius or sternocleidomastoid contractures.

The treatment includes massage of the area and stretching obtained by extreme yawning. Infiltrations of local anesthesia are also possible by avoiding the temporal artery.

It should be noted that this myofascial syndrome can be the cause of dental pain.
