Myofascial syndrome of the coracobrachialis muscle MEDECIN ABONNE

Anatomical reminder

anatomie du msucle coraco-brachial

The coraco-brachialis muscle attaches, above, to the coracoid process and, below, to the medial part, in its middle part, of the humeral diaphysis

its function is the flexion and adduction of the arm at the shoulder.

Myofascial syndrome of the coracobrachialis muscle

Description

douleur chronique par syndrome myofascial du muscle coraro-brachial vue antérieure
douleur chronique par syndrome myofascial du muscle coraro-brachial vue postérieure

The pain described is shoulder pain in his lateral part and arm pain in his posterior part of the arm, front arm, back of the hand and middle finger.

Diagnostic

Decrease in shoulder adduction amplitude, back of the hand on the loins. Weak arm flexion, arm abducted 45°, hand pronated. Stretching the muscle with the arm fully extended reproduces the symptoms. Palpation of the muscle on the inner side of the arm is painful. Myofascial syndrome of the coraco-brachialis muscle is very often associated with damage to other muscles performing the same function.

Treatment

Stretching of the muscle in the frame of a door with arms slightly bent and the hand in the lower part
It will be necessary to avoid carrying heavy objects with the arm extended in moderate abduction (keeping the elbows to the body)

Post operative chronic pain
