Ilio-hypogastric, ilio-inguinal and genitocrural nerves
These 3 nerves innervate the inguinal and external genital regions (testicle skin and labia majora).
They also innervate the muscles of the lower abdominal wall and the cremaster muscle.
Ilio-hypogastric nerve.
Beginning of the spine at level D12 and L1 (12th dorsal and 1st lumbar).
It innervates the skin of the upper lateral part of the thigh, the pubic skin, the base of the penis and the anterior part of the testis in men. The labia majora in women.
Ilio-inguinal nerve.
Begins from the spine at level L1 (1st lumbar).
It innervates the skin of the upper internal part of the thigh, the pubic skin, the base of the penis and the anterior part of the testicle in men. The labia majora in women.
The genitocrural or genitofemoral nerve.
Begins from the spine at L1 and L2 (1st and 2nd lumbar).
It innervates the skin of the upper middle part of the thigh, the pubic skin, the base of the penis and the anterior part of the testis in men. The labia majora in women.
it also innervates the cremaster muscle.
